I was talking with a man that I met today while I was at the bank about his retirement plan. And let me tell you, I was shocked when I heard it and you will be too when you see what I’m talking about.

This gentleman told me that he’s worked in his corporate job now for 18 years and he only has two years left before he’s fully vested. This means in two years, he expects to have a fairly good retirement check when he turns 65.

On the surface this doesn’t look bad does it?

This man is now 49 years old and he says that he will continue working until retirement doing something else and he can draw on Social Security as well when he retires. He believes there should be enough money to live an ok lifestyle.

Then I asked him about his savings…

He continued and said “Well… (And a long pause)” — and at this point I knew there was something coming that I should pay attention to — He continued: “I don’t have much in way of savings but between my pension from my company and Social Security I figure that’s plenty.”
