Entrepreneurs Portray Yourself Professionally

As an Entrepreneur you must appear professional to your clients. Many Entrepreneurs try and take shortcuts and use free services. Now don’t get me wrong, free services are great!

However it can make you look unprofessional!

You might ask what kinds of services are free that might make me as an Entrepreneur look unprofessional?

Good Question!

Let’s start with your website and email address. When you use a free service such as Yahoo or Hotmail, you make yourself look small and unprofessional. A Hotmail address espcially says fly by night and I’m not sure this business is legitimate to your customers.

As an Entrepreneur you want every edge you can get. Email is free with website hosting and you can find services out there for under $10 per month.

There was an article on Yahoo that shows wealthy Entrepreneurs want to let everyone know via their email address that they are wealthy and successful. This is all about perception, isn’t it?

You bet it is!

Business cards are another place to look. There is a free business card service call
Vista Print. They make great cards and only charge you for shipping. The problem is they advertise their service on the back of your card unless you pay extra. If you don’t pay extra then that makes you look small and unprofessional.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make yourself look professional. Give yourself every possible chance for success you can. Look professional!

You must spend a minimal amount of money to give you the image people are expecting. Perception is everything. If you don’t think so, just go to a Mercedes dealership and ask them to go for test drive dressed like a slob.

I guarantee you they won’t let you near the car…

I remember years ago… I did an experiment with car dealers. I first dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. I went to the Porsche dealership and told them I wanted to take a test drive.

What a surprise, no one took me seriously. They nearly kicked me out of the dealership.

It didn’t matter that I had the money to buy a new car in cash. It was my perception that spoke volumes to the sales people.

The next time I went back dressed in a suit and tie. Within 5 minutes I was behind the wheel of a brand new Porche 911 twin turbo taking a test drive. That was cool by the way.

So what changed?

The sales persons perception of me!

Does perception matter as an Entrepreneur?

You be the judge.

So how are you portraying yourself and your business? Take a look at every aspect of what you are doing and make some simple changes today. Notice how your results change.
