Entrepreneurs Who Learn More, Earn More

Remember the last time I discussed the learning process and how it works? If not go back and review the last blog entry. This is a continuation of the learning process.

As an entrepreneur there is a little more to understand about how you learn.

Let’s talk a little bit more about the learning cycle. It is critical to your success as an entrepreneur. You must Continue your entrepreneur training otherwise you will be eaten alive by your competition. This learning process is true for everything you do.

Remember back to the time when you first learned to drive a car. There was a point in your life where you didn’t even know a car existed. When you were first born and lying in your crib I’d bet that you weren’t thinking about taking a cruise in your parents car. You were unconscious incompetent.

As you grew up your parents drove you around and you figured out that a car gets you freedom. You can go places far beyond the house. You now realized that you wanted a car so you can have your freedom but you didn’t know how to drive. You are consciously aware of cars and your desire to drive but you don’t know how. You are consciously incompetent.

Now you’re old enough to drive a car and you decide to take a drivers education course at school. You learn how to drive the vehicle safely. You learn the rules of the road and you practice. You then go the get your drivers license. You have become conscious competent. You can drive the car but it is still a bit awkward. When you get in the car you still mentally focus on what to do. You open the door, put on your seat belt, put the key in the ignition, check the mirrors, and so on. When you are driving you are aware of absolutely everything.

Over a period of time you practice and become more confident in what you are doing. In fact you quit thinking about every detail and you just now do it automatically. You are on autopilot. In fact I have seen people driving down the road reading a newspaper, drinking coffee, either shaving or putting on lipstick while tuning the radio. I hope I didn’t just describe you. The point is you are now unconscious competent. You can do multiple things at the same time without putting conscious attention on the tasks.

The real question is who is driving the car? It’s your unconscious mind. You have practiced long enough to make it a permanent program in your unconscious mind.

Knowing how this learning cycle works can greatly reduce the time necessary for you to achieve greatness. When you ask the right questions you become aware much quicker of what you require. Then you get the education necessary and take action thus achieving mastery.

To continue your entrepreneur education and become a better learner read chapter 4 in my book Wealth Without a Job. This will definitely cut your learning cycle tremendously.

To Your Success,
